Buying high-end hair products will cost you a lot. So, from time-to-time we try to seek alternative, yet effective ways, to nurture our beauty. And I know most of you will agree, women and men alike (if you, dude, is growing a long hair for sure), that keeping your hair’s health and looks is indeed tough and challenging.
The truth is, even science knows very little about how our hair, basically a collection of dead proteins called keratin, should be nurtured or in the eventual loss of it, be revived.
Mustard Powder Hair Mask
Now, we have an alternative hair care mask for you using just mustard powder — yes, mustard. You will only need the following:
- 1 Egg
- 3 Tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 Tablespoon of mustard powder
- 2-3 Tablespoons of slightly warm water
How do I prepare this hair mask?
Mix one tablespoon of mustard powder with a little bit of warm water. Two or three tablespoons of water will be sufficient to make a paste. Then add three tablespoons of olive oil and one egg. Blend all these ingredients together, until you get a smooth paste.
So, how should I use this?
Apply this mustard mask on dry, unwashed hair (roots only). Concentrate only on the scalp.
Optional: For extra shine you may add some olive oil (or coconut oil, linseed oil, sweet almond oil) to the length of your hair.
After you’ve applied the mask, put on a shower cap and then a warm towel. The mustard gives a strong heating effect. It boosts blood circulation on your scalp, and hence triggering hair growth, thickness and shine.
Leave the mask on your head for around 3-5 minutes, depending on how well you can deal with the heat. If it is too much for you to handle – rinse it off with water.
Other Hair Benefits of Mustard
Don’t have the head full of hair that you want? Mustard oil can help fix that by increasing the blood circulation to your scalp, as well as revitalize it with the following nutrients:
- Beta-Carotene (which converts into Vitamin A)
All of these contribute to helping your hair grow, so find that bald spot and slather some mustard oil on. Well, perhaps “slather” is the wrong word, but definitely massage it into your scalp thoroughly for a good ten to fifteen minutes. You may be surprised to see some positive results.
Mustard oil is great for hair loss prevention!
Now that you’ve got hair, you don’t want to lose it, right? Fortunately mustard oil for hair growth stimulation is also mustard oil for hair retention. Contrary to the old saying: you CAN have your cake and eat it!
There’s a bit of a cocktail involved with this, so you’ll be blending together a combination of:
- Mustard oil
- Coconut oil
- Almond oil
- Olive oil
Take these oils, mix them together, and spread the overall concoction through your hair and scalp. Don’t just run it through; really massage it into your scalp for at least fifteen minutes.
Your hair is certainly going to feel slick after this, but don’t wash it out just yet – take a shower cap and place it over your hair, letting it sit for the next two or three hours before washing the oils out.
You can start doing this at least three times per week. After just a couple of weeks you should notice that any damaged hair you have has been repaired and revitalized.
Note: Although we just touched on this, you could you simply use mustard oil for hair growth – this particular blend of oils works great for the same purpose.
Mustard oil can help prevent your hair from going gray!
There are plenty of natural oils that help darken hair, and mustard oil is no different1. However, this also includes prevention of hair graying. There are expensive dyes and overpriced supplements on the market that are designed to help you avoid this, but before you buy into their hype, try using mustard oil first.
Here’s the simple 3-step process:
- Coat your hair thoroughly with mustard oil
- Wait about a half-hour
- Wash the mustard oil out
Super easy. Just do this once each night before you shower and you’ll be set!
Know that there are several methods to this that involve combining mustard oil with another ingredient. However, keep things simple for now and try this process with mustard oil alone. If you want increased results or aren’t getting what you were hoping for, THEN try including other remedies.
